Motivating yourself and your kids during the 10 days of Dhulhijjah

Sharing is caring!

Remember how exciting the last 10 days of Ramadan were? Well, this is the time to be as excited as we were during those days because we have entered the first 10 days of Dhulhijjah.

If you were from the lowest point of your Imaan, it’s time to dust the dirt off your clothes and pick yourself up right now.

Likewise, if you have been on a roll, it’s time to switch gears and go on full blast right now.

In case you don’t already know, these are the BEST ten days of the year!

As for myself, I have to be honest, I fall on the first category. I have been feeling exhausted lately and all I want to do is just lie on my bed all day. But having a toddler, we all know that’s not gonna happen. Alhamdulillah.

So if you are in need of some motivation like me, here they are.

The best 10 days

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days.”

They said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah?”

He said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2/457)

Do not let your wealth and children distract you

“O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah . And whoever does that –  then those are the losers.”

[Surah Al-Munafiqun, Verse 9]

So what should we do?

Increase in good deeds

Time to recite more of the Qur’an, increase in remembrance, seek forgiveness from Allah, send salawat to the prophet (salallahu alaihi wasalam), make do’a, pray salah on time, strive to attain khusyu in our prayer, pray the sunnah prayers, make sadaqah, fast when you can.

Increase in tahleel, takbeer and tahmeed

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“There are no days that are greater before Allaah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days, so recite a great deal of tahleel, takbeer and tahmeed during them.”

(Narrated by Ahmad, 7/224; its isnaad was classed as saheeh by Ahmad Shaakir.)

Be wary of falling into sins

Take care of your tongue, heart, and limbs. That includes refraining from backbiting, gazing at the haram, listening to the haram etc.

Leave off unbeneficial things

No more wasting time. That means no more aimlessly scrolling through social media or watching pointless videos on youtube, netflix or whatever.

Free printable planner

MashaAllah, there are so many things that we can do. But if you are in need of a little more motivation, here is a planner that was shared with me. I’m not so much of a planner person but I hope this will benefit you.

May Allah reward the person who created this planner. Allahumma Aamiin! Do share it around so that others can benefit from it too!
